Arson - 20XX WHITAKER WAY, MUNHALL, 15120, PA - 10/28/2009 06:34 AM

10/28/2009 06:34 AM. Two Munhall firefighters charged with arson, burglary and other offenses have waived their cases to court. Matthew Clark, 18, of Whitaker, and Contereaus Anton Mikell, 19 of Duquesne, waived charges of causing a catastrophe, criminal conspiracy, criminal mischief, arson and burglary Wednesday afternoon at Magisterial District Judge Thomas R. Torkowsky's office. Charges stem from an incident October 28, around 6:34 am. According to reports, police and fire fighters responded to a call about a garage fire near the intersection of Whitaker Way and Marigold Street. They found a garage at 2027 Whitaker Way engulfed in flames. Allegheny County fire marshal was called to investigate the blaze. No injuries were reported. The garage was a two-story, two vehicle building separate from a house, and witnesses reported seeing two males in the area with a flare around the time of the incident, according to reports. Clark reportedly told police that he and his accomplice wanted to go on a fire call. So they lit the garage on fire with gasoline from his father's house and a flare that they had taken from the fire station, according to reports. Borough officials said Clark and Mikell are firefighters from Munhall Volunteer Fire Co. No. 5. Borough Fire Chief Matt Pisarcik said Monday that the two teens are not allowed near a fire department as part of their parole, and they will be formally discharged from service at their fire station's next business meeting. Pisarcik referred other questions regarding this case to the fire marshal's office View Source.
