Newark police are investigating the theft of $6,000 in cigarettes from a tobacco store and the attempted burglary of another store, possibly committed by the same person. The merchandise was stolen from Tobacco Zone at 1023 S. College Ave. between midnight Saturday and 6:45 a.m. Sunday. Police arrived to find the front doors to the business damaged.
