ASSAULT INVESTIGATION: Police are investigating an attempted sexual assault of a woman in Tubman-Garrett Riverfront Park early Friday. According to police, a 37-year-old woman was walking in the area of Rosa Parks Drive and South Market Street at 2:15 a.m. when she was approached from behind by a man who pushed her to the ground and attempted to remove her clothes. The victim fought the man off by punching him several times in the face and was treated afterward at Christiana Hospital for minor injuries. The suspect is described as in his 20s, wearing camouflage pants, a hat and a blue denim jacket. Police ask anyone with information to contact Detective Malcolm Stoddard at 576-3641.
