On 9-16-2008, Dr. Prodhan of Arkansas Children’s Hospital, observed a black male removing a laptop computer from the Cardiology office. He followed the suspect and asked for his hospital ID badge. The suspect could not produce a badge and Dr. Prodhan then demanded he return the computer. The suspect refused and kept walking out of the hospital. Security was alerted and located the suspect, but after a brief struggle, the suspect entered a green vehicle. Security Officer Clemments held onto the driver door in an attempt to detain the suspect. The suspect then drove off, dragging Officer Clemments approximately 25 feet, causing Officer Clemments to strike another vehicle. Doug Brown, who was attempting to come to the aid of Officer Clemments, was almost struck by the suspect when he drove towards him. The suspect was able to flee the parking lot.
